Nicholas Handslip, Director

Nick spent most of his childhood on construction projects of some kind, whether it was lego, a garden shed or family boat. After studying civil and structural engineering, he worked on big infrastructure projects for HBG Group. He then took time off to pursue his other great passion – sailing, heading off across the Atlantic in a 38 foot Swan.

On his return to the UK, he pursued a career in the IT sector although construction was never far from his mind and throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s he built a small property portfolio, targeting the high-end HMO market. He learned first-hand the principles of good design, cost control and maximisation of asset values.

After an MBA in Construction and Real Estate he joined an UK project management and quantity surveying firm. Here he led the construction of a factory prior to the London Olympics and the refurbishment of a boutique hotel in Chelsea.

Nick set up Franklin PM in 2009 to service private clients in London and the home counties. He has worked for A-list actresses, heads of industry, captains of sport and other high net worth individuals.

In 2018, after seeing some of the same issues crop up on multiple projects, Nick developed a separate service for contractors, enabling them to provide faster and more accurate estimates, strengthen their systems and processes and provide more frequent clearer reports to clients.

At weekends, Nick can be found doing carpentry projects at the behest of his wife or sailing off the South coast with his family.


The Team

Nick is supported by Sophie Morton, Project Administrator and Henrietta Van Klaveren, Office Manager.

Sophie Morton

Sophie joined Franklin PM in 2015. Sophie was until early 2020 a co-founder of Yateley Papers, a high-end stationary business. As Franklin PM has grown, Sophie has decided to focus on our sub-contractor support offering.

Henrietta Van Klaveren

Henrietta has worked for Franklin PM since 2014 and handles the accounts, billing, marketing and administration. She has over 12 years of professional experience as an Office Manager and Personal Assistant, and previously worked for the Managing Director of PMB Holdings, a commercial property company. Henrietta supervised the refurbishment of her own project in Hampshire, she is a trained florist and loves creating beautiful displays in her spare time.
